Bounty Hunter is the third 2.5D animated cinematic we’ve created for Supercell’s Clash Royale, and one we (and the Supercell team) were extremely pleased with. As always, we had tons of fun working with their chunky little characters.
Clash Royale is a super-addictive, real-time multiplayer mobile game. For this project, we were tasked with creating a card evolution cinematic for the Musketeer, which introduces a more powerful version of her character. In other words, you don’t want to be on the wrong side of that blunderbuss…
End-To-End 2.5D Animation Production
We created Bounty Hunter entirely from start to finish, from ideas generation and storyboarding through to illustration, animation, 2DFX and final tweaks. In all our animated projects, our teams work closely together to achieve a high-quality, cohesive result.
After our storyboard was approved by Supercell, we broke down each shot and divided the illustration work between different specialist artists. The illustration team worked with our animators to ensure that all the right elements were created on separate layers.
Then, our animation team was tasked with rigging all these elements and bringing the cinematic to life—down to the final VFX splashes of cactus juice. This project was overseen by Director Dave Ferguson and Art Director Arthur Bozonnet. Their combined attention to detail resulted in a highly polished and impactful short, full of that trademark Supercell humour.
